“ Don’t fall into the trap of thinking compliance needs to be complicated. Consultants make it seem complex to substantiate unnecessarily high fees.”
Dean Logan - CEO Red Cloud
Compliance
As an organisation we appreciate how complex the world is becoming, but our role is not to add to this complexity, but rather simplify it for clients. If we can’t do that, we’re not doing our job.
As risk, governance and policy experts we can’t see the sense in throwing every ISO accreditation on this page. Every sector is different. So lets cover the big ticket items and work up from there.
-
Every employer has a legal and morale obligation to maintain a safe working environment. If you believe an issues has some level of WHS / OHS risk, you need to fix it.
The law is very clear: if you know something is unsafe and you fail to act, you will be held accountable. Oh role is point these risks out to you our client and devise a plan to rectify them as soon as possible.
-
We highlight to clients that they no longer have the freedom to pay zero attention to critical infrastructure.
We say this because in almost every instance, you have a legal responsibility to maintain the asset to it’s operationally designed level. If the asset was designed to save lives, it is your responsibility to ensure it does.
-
A Residual Current Device (RCD), or safety switch, is a life-saving electrical safety device designed to instantly break a circuit when it detects electricity leaking to earth (e.g., through a person).
You need to itemise these across your business, test them and ensure they are always in good working order.
-
Every sector is different and defined by regulators as such.
If you work in the marine sector you’ll have specific guidelines to follow when it comes to extinguishing a fire on a vessel tied to your wharf. These rules don’t apply to aged care providers who have a comprehensive suite of Federal Aged Care Standards to comply with on top of State based regulation.
Our goal is to focus on your sector specifically and provide you the advice you need. There is no need to make it any more complex than it needs to be. Hence why we start with critical infrastructure first, and work our way down from there.
The Process
The compliance model
The compliance model mirrors both the asset and project management cycle. And for the record, we’ve spent over 20 years briefing senior policy makers inside the Federal and State systems.
In our view, complexity DOES NOT equate to safety: commonsense and partnership does.
